About us and this
From circa early December 2006 until circa late April 2009, d'Oorhinge
l'Orange Recordings was a label. It is still considered a branch on the BSBTA family tree.
Nom de l'Orange?
d'Oorhinge l'Orange was, for a very short time, Orange Doorhinge - a name
inspired
by a passage in the 1965 film "Ladies & Gentlemen,
Mr. Leonard Cohen".
When an apparently veteran punk band (with no internet presence - how punk!) let it be known that they felt they "owned" the Orange Doorhinge name (a very un-punk band name, actually),
I decided to replace my label's name with a faux-Francais variant. In hindsight, seeing as there's both a band and a label called Camera
Obscura (and they seem to coexist peacefully) I could've just kept the originally intended label name, while only fearing an anarcho-lawsuit (I was never presented with a cease and desist notice, thankfully)... accompanied by a few "oi"s , safety pin cheek piercings, and trousers too long to be considered shorts but too short to be considered pants.
Corporate
branding
d'Oorhinge l'Orange only released CD or CD-R albums (no EPs or
singles.) According to yours truly, an album is at least 26 minutes in length.
Subsequently, d'Oorhinge Mandarine was set up to sporadically release shorter EPs (in the 3"
CD-R format only.)
All of d'Oorhinge l'Orange's album packaging measured approximately 12.4 x
14 cm
(aka., the size of a standard jewelcase or digipak.) Our d'Oorhinge Mandarine three-inches were presented in "mini
DVD" cases (which are about 12.4 cm high and 8.5 cm wide.)
