December 31, 2011:
The very last CD-R releases from the label "known" as Bloated Sasquatch Beer Theatre Audio and/or BSBTA are here.
"Ridiculous" by Shaw and "Being -three sections-" by Christian H. Sötemann / cryptic scenery. Two vastly different albums representing two of the many musical styles the label has focused on through the years.
Motivation to keep BSBTA going has not been with me the past couple of years. Hence, this is finally it for the label.
Infinite thanks to everyone who helped make things awesome.
Loose ends
- There is one 10-inch vinyl release I failed to release on BSBTA's logically named BSBTA Vinyl imprint in 2010/2011. I'll let you know where, and in what form, it ends up in 2012.
Future plans / ideas
- A less rudimentary site! I had to rush to get this site back online before 2012. HTML clean up. PayPal buttons. Colours? Graphics?
- Several past albums and EPs will be added to BSBTA's Bandcamp page (releases not already available from the artists themselves) - for free download, for fixed sums, or at "pay what you wish" prices ...
- More free downloads to the page on this site?
- A page for each BSBTA release, with detailed descriptions, back stories from artists, more/better pictures, etc.
- A Beard of Snails Records, one of the labels that emerged from the BSBTA cocoon, is still active, and will be for the forseeable future. A BSBTA artist or two might appear on A Beard of Snails at some point...

BSBTA #110: Christian H. Sötemann/cryptic scenery "Being -three sections-" - cd-r
CD-R + B&W covers in a jewelcase.
Ten years after "Being -six objects-" (cryptic scenery's first of many releases on BSBTA), this label's final statement comes, fittingly, courtesy of one of our favourite contemporary German composers. Behold the stark(ly) minimalist "Being", in varied situations (indoor/outdoor Berlin, chatty Århus, discreet Prague.) Dig the tranquil moments of field recorded bliss. The environment is part of the composition. "Presence" is creditted. Limited to 40 numbered copies; we only have a few left.

BSBTA #109: Shaw "Ridiculous" - cd-r
CD-R + full colour covers + lyrics sheet in a 'Super Jewel Box' jewelcase.
After many delays, David Shaw's fourth album is here, just in time for the Apocalypse of BSBTA. Ah, but what a strong, largely acoustic collection of atheist folk songs, heartfelt ballads, and mid-tempo rockers this is, regardless. Nothing but respect. Cover art by the Shaw family.

BSBTA #108: The Original Beekeepers "Thirteens" - cd-r
CD-R + full colour cover in a wraparound case.
Formed in London circa 1984 (as Shammy Leather - a moniker they still use), these gentlemen will be familiar to quite a few - notleast through their contributions to BSBTA compilations of yore. BSBTA are honoured to be issuing the O.B.s' appropriately titled thirteenth album - an amazing, eccentric hodge podge of pastoral pop (echoes of Syd? Bonzo Dog Band?), loopy minimalism, and found sounds. Vintage electronics, psychedelia, and decidedly non-pop compositions! Melodic genius... it's all here (and you oughta hear the stuff that didn't make the final cut!)

BSBTA #107: Paper Sessions "Goodnight Sunrise" - cd-r
CD-R + full colour cover in a wraparound case.
Hyperdriven dance music, chill-fi electro, and totally rrrrippin' indie mope noise rock chimes from this Danish quintet (here, though, just S. Heggum and R. Drabe.) Goodnight Sunrise, the monster debut that it is, is both '80s neon boyish charm and '90s slacker-core, futurism, Madchester, Gore 'n' Gahan, Lee 'n' Thurston, skinny ties, plaid shirts, sneakergazing... a perfect collision of the homespun and the decadent. Contains such hits as "One I Love", "Skyline", "Plug Me In", "Melting", and more.

DOOR126: Konrad Korabiewski "Stateless" - CD
Factory pressed CD in an offset printed digipak.
A selection of recordings made between 1998 and 2008, forming a surprisingly flawless opus. The album's title signifies Korabiewski's own sense of ”disbelonging”, and, stylistically, "Stateless" does - rightfully so - combine moody Eastern European lo-fi-meets-hi-fi dance music with Scandinavian idiosyncrasies. Pixie-dust beats, zany synths and warped broadcasts from the Planet Lodz, resulting in avantgarde electronic pop music pieces for techno-happy melody fiends and interstellar noise/drone buffs alike. In addition to eight such tracks (plus a curious interlude), the handsomely packaged CD contains a remix by none other than German lap-pop superstar Schneider TM.

DOOR122: cryptic scenery "On the Outskirts" - CD
Factory pressed CD and offset printed artwork, in a jewelcase.
Fifty four minutes of intense beauty, terror, melancholy, minimalism and thrilling melodies, with eclectic swirls of goth-prog, avant-drone, psychedelic rock and techno, along with the inimitable voice of Mr. Sötemann. An edition of 300.

DOOR115: Mechanical Bird "11 Songs For Perchers" - CD
Factory pressed CD in a handmade / hand printed cover with booklet.
A unique, warm, enchanting home recorded folk / singer-songwriter / Americana-influenced album from Jakob Brixen (Manuskript), lyrically and thematically of a spiritual nature; the songs' experimental elements - singing saw, music box, electronics, etc. - are quirky, yet complementing. Limited to 275 copies.

BSBTA #104: Lope / yellow6 / Absent Without Leave / Kimonophonic "Lope / yellow6 / Absent Without Leave / Kimonophonic" - CD
Factory pressed CD in a digipak with pasted-on artwork.
Lope opens with warm, dream-like, compositions, accentuated by woodland electronics, light rhythms and melodica. Then, the world renouned ethereal guitars and meditative keyboards of Jon Attwood's yellow6. Absent Without Leave is ambient-drones-with-beats, also ideal for relaxation. Lastly, Kimonophonic sets things on fire!, without sacrificing any exquisitely catchy harmonies... splendiferous analogue indietronica, this.

BSBTA #98: Shaw "Happy Road" - cd-r
CD-R + full colour covers in a jewelcase.
Contains yet more pop hits, being a celebration of what
the Fab Four revolutionized, but in the Shaw style we know and enjoy.
Bits of classic UK blues rock, acoustic folk with brilliant vocal harmonies and drum machine-led laid back punk
songs round off the album nicely. The late G. McLennan and, for that matter, the
later J. Lennon would be proud.

explosive ambience and upbeat live digital manipulations with Danish
spoken word... forming a stunningly beautiful Winter World all of its own.

BSBTA #58: Tilbury on Cloves "Tilbury on Cloves" - CD
Factory pressed CD and offset printed artwork, in a jewelcase.
The Greek duo Tilbury On Cloves' self-titled debut full length (after a number of compilation appearances and a split 7") is made up of a plethora of discreetly progressing dream-like cascades, gentle / experimental electro(nic) assaults and chiming nu-shoegazer passages, accented by demure, mopey vocals. Some will say "lo-fi post-goth", others will say "nu-gaze". We say "hurrah!"... while humbly categorizing it as an awesome example of Mediterranean "melancholia". Edition of 300.

BSBTA #56: cryptic scenery "Ontic" - CD
Factory pressed CD and offset printed artwork, in a jewelcase.
Everything is. As is Ontic. It's more song-oriented, intimate, and stripped down (especially, compared to the previous cryptic scenery release of new material, Four Crescent Figures (BSBTA #21)), yet there are plenty of directions to keep you happy here as well: from the reverb-laden "The Old Bike", to the spoken word / atmospheric keyboard piece "Loose Conception of Greenland", to the instrumental Frippertronics-esque "Omnipresent" (reminiscent of what you can hear on cs's 3-inch The Singing Machine, released on the RetinaScan label). Of course, Ontic is a 100% solo effort - with Christian H. Sötemann having written, played, sung and recorded everything. It's about minimalism, presence and being. And Ontic should perhaps be present in your collection too. An edition of 300.

BSBTA #21: cryptic scenery "Four Crescent Figures" - CD
Factory pressed CD and offset printed artwork, in a jewelcase.
Recorded on a four-track in the group's rehearsal room, yet displaying an incredibly full and fleshed out sound; their live sound has actually been reproduced well here. The album is their most heterogenous to date - with psyched-out guitar pieces, symphonically droning synths, sombre piano, melancholy indie rock and white noise. Filled with both calming and dramatic moments, where you either sit tranquilly, or can't help but play air guitar/keyboard/drums, "Four Crescent Figures" goes full circle. An edition of 300.

DOOR305: cryptic scenery "Early Morning Haze" - 3" cd-r
8 cm (3-inch) mini CD-R + full colour cover in a wraparound case.
Containing remixed/reconstructed versions of four songs from the melodic, underrated "On the Outskirts" album (DOOR122), "Early Morning Haze" is not merely a natural companion piece to said album, but also, in itself, a resplendent testament to the ambient/minimalist music perfected by cryptic scenery (yet ever evolving) through the past six years especially.

DOOR302: Funny Art Collective feat. Bjørn Svin "Purple Mandarin" - 3" cd-r
8 cm (3-inch) mini CD-R + full colour cover in a wraparound case.
In contrast to their previous works, Northern Denmark's Funny Art Collective present, here, an overall melancholy (at times, semi goth/EBM) sound. Still, a lot of ground is covered on this 20-minute beauty, with its intoxicating electro-beats, humourous cut-up samples and fragile melodies. The FAC duo collaborate with Bjørn Svin (a veteran electronica/pop talent in his own rite) on the track "Diskas".

WHOA121: The Up Set "Making a Connection With the Ground" - cd-r
Pro duplicated CD-R + full colour cover in a clear plastic sleeve.
The first American (well, the first non-Danish) band to grace the w-o-h! catalog is The Up Set - usually a solo outfit for K.B. Blankson, but here, accompanied by a backing band. And compared to previous stellar lo-fi/twee releases from K.B., this E.P. is a pleasantly surprising upgrade - to charming, amped up indie pop/rock. C'mon and make a connection with the dancefloor! Comes with a 1" button.

WHOA112: Melvis & the Papercuts "Melvis and the Papercuts" - cd-r

Melvis (Anders Hald Jensen) has a knack for writing very fine lo-fi pop melodies. This collection is a smooth and sultry example. Guest musicians / producers include prolific Århus indie darlings Mr. Q (aka. Qlauz) and Johannes Gammelby (I Am Bones).

Yet more psych-uh-delic collaborative recordings from more of our international friends on this (needless to say) follow-up/companion piece to "Vinyl Beards". Of a limited (mystery) edition in individually stencilled jackets. BSBTAVINYL6: v/a: Vinyl Beards - 12" LP
Eight astounding collaborative tracks from some of our favourite psych/folk/noise-underground people of circa 2008 (Sea Zombies, We Wait for the Snow / throuRoof, Cones, Family Battle Snake / Sarah's Charity, Donato Epiro / Vanessa Rossetto, Shiggajon, The End Springs / A Man & A Guitar, Fabio Orsi / Valerio Cosi). BSBTAVINYL2: Elektronavn / Exquisite Russian Brides - 7"
- Elektronavn "Cosmic Depth/A Sense of Coherence"
- Exquisite Russian Brides "Golden Rain Over Fascist Europe"
A perfect match between two (still quite different) meditative dronescape/avant-psych pieces from two of Denmark's finest in that field. Loops, zurna, bansuri, cello, bells, vocals and xylophone are utilized. Magic is made. Each cover is lino-printed, so (exciting) irregularities are to be expected.

BSBTAVINYL1: Antenne / cryptic scenery - 7"

This first offering from BSBTA Vinyl contains two artists showcasing some of their absolute best songs (according to me... well, and them.) Ethereal lo-fi, electronic intimacy, female vocals, male vocals, mindblowing guitar-isms. Legendary, eventually.
